Atlantic East Coast travel souveniers when combined with "up lighting" transformed a hand painted wooden box and squared off seagull carving into something more dramatic: a life or death situation. The challenge was to make the comical seagull carving look threatening: The beak and the hard cast shadow hides one eye leaving just one staring/glaring eye ball.
