Oil on paper on board. I placed the model in an orchard beneath the trees. She is backlit by a simplified landscape. Washes of pigment and OMS soften edges, create a middle distance and connect her to the landscape. Accents of colour in the zebra's mane add "child like play" to the painted surface but do not distract the viewer from the center of interest: her thoughtful gaze.
