Scandinavian Nocturne

Painted in oil on linen mounted on cotton board, this little piece is an experimentation in the blending of two my main sources of inspiration from history: the landscape and church decoration. The rounded top of the painting is a clear referance to many altarpieces. The landscape shows the characterically flat landscape of Denmark. The painting is also a part of an ongoing exploration of different painterly methods of creating light, mood and atmosphere in a painting.
