Based on a Plein-air sketch I made on site almost a year ago, it depicts the many colors of the sea at Achziv Beach, looking north to Rosh Hanikra.
The painting shows the remains of a carved pool which was used to keep the Hexaplex trunculus; sea snails used to create the Tyrian color purple in ancient times.
This large piece follows a recurring theme in my work, studying man-made landscapes.
