A Bit Grainy

This oil on linen painting is a scene in St. George, Kansas. I have walked this area many times and am always struck by the beauty and charm of the small town. This time the way the light was hitting the grain elevator was beautiful. I wanted to convey the warmth of the summer and the glow of the summer sun reflecting off the dusty dirt road, the field and the grain elevator. I enjoy scenes like this because they have a beautiful character to them that I believe is disappearing.
