The Breath of Spring

A collector loved "Changing Seasons" but it had already been sold so he commissioned me to do another painting of my pond in the Spring. I worked on the large canvas blocking it in over the winter and again set up by the pond in the Spring to finish plein air. One morning a breeze came up and for a few seconds, the reflection of the hill broke up into broken colors of the hill and sky. I loved the effect and added it to create a sense of immediacy and a moment of profound beauty in nature.
